No Matter What!

It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.

Lamentations 3:22-24

A mother was told that her son has Leukemia….in the blink of an eye her life was flooded with fear and pain. In another family, a loving father dies suddenly leaving his wife and three children alone…they experience tears, pain and fear.

We live in a weeping world full of pain and fear.

The Book of Lamentations was written by Jeremiah, who is also known as The Weeping Prophet. The citizens of Judah had been taken into captivity, Jerusalem laid in ruins; the people were destitute and their suffering was intense. The prophet wept continually. Yet Jeremiah still affirmed the mercies, the compassion and the faithfulness of God.

From deep within him, his soul was saying “ The Lord is my portion, therefore I hope in Him.” Lamentations 3:24.

What conviction we find in those tear saturated words! Its’ the reality that weeping and troubles do not necessarily reflect a weak faith or lack of trust in God.

Some of us may think that a Christian has to feel joy and pretend even when the heart is breaking. But Jeremiah teaches us differently. Tears are a natural part of a Christian’s life, pain far from being an obstacle can be the path to spiritual growth, it brings you closer to God, into His heart and His word. It is during these times that you learn that God brings light out of darkness, life out of death, hope out of despair. You learn to trust and love Him during the most difficult times and how wonderful it is to look back and acknowledge that He truly carried you all the way.

Today I ask you….is your life filled with pain? Uncertainty? Sickness perhaps? The Lord Jesus can and wants to turn it around, give you peace and walk you through anything you may be facing because….The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I will hope in Him…
